1950s - - - the Early SIMBARI years

[ when he was “free” to follow his Dream ]

The WAR was OVER !! and ‘the world’ was rebuilding itself . . .
HOPE in ours Hearts . . . and . . . the Excitement of BEING ALIVE !

(Many of these pictures, of his early works have been taken from the
various books, and catalogues, with his works beautifully illustrated,
printed through the years, on SIMBARI)

Nicola in his “first studio” in the Via Margutta area . . .
the “Artist-mecca“ of Rome in the 50’s . . . [ actually this is dated 1949 ! ]

his Dreams soon began to ‘come true’ and he was very busy with stage design and costumes, illustrations for books and magazines, of the time, and poster work for the Italian Government. . .

he became a central figure in “Artistic Rome” - - -
And
Then, came a request to paint a Mural, in one of the modern buildings in the new section of ‘greater’ Rome - - - EUR.

And

as he continued to work with new Theatre productions, and the growing Cinema business, designing award winning posters (“On the Beach”) . . .

his Art became “noticed”
by many collectors, in Italy, and Europe.

Perhaps his best known Theatrical participation, was the colourful Neapolitan Musical “Tarantella Napolitana” by the noted Italian Impresario Armando Curcio

[a slightly discoloured copy of the programme from the
First Night Performance]

Many of the songs were ‘sung’ all over Italy, and later performed by famous ‘voices’ all over the world . . .

It was a
“smash hit” !!

I was very excited, when recently, from Australia, I received pictures of
some of the “sketches”, made by SIMBARI, for this
spectacular theatre production - - Thank you!

Here are just ‘some’ of the works Nicola did for this Production - -
They are FULL of the Drama of
Neapolitan Life

. . . clowns . . . murder . . . dancing . . . fishermen . . .
and general ‘noise and confusion’ !!
a

Tarantella Napolitana !

Clowns ! Drama !
Beautiful girls ! Theatre !
Entertainment !
Fishermen !

And the ‘streets’ of Naples
- - - filled with more “drama and life” - - -

Happiness

- - and - -

Death
